In the fertile valley of the Dordogne River, in the department of the Lot in south western France lies the medieval village of Carennac, one of The Most Beautiful Villages of France. This delightful village on the banks of the Dordogne has a history dating back to the 11th Century when the abbey of Cluny founded a priory there. The medieval priory combining St Peter's church and cloister is just one of the beautiful sites that are part of Carennac. In 2007 we visited this charming village. We explored its narrow winding streets lined with fairytale like cottages and after enjoying a delicious lunch in the wonderful village creperie, we fell in love with Carennac.
We invite you to experience the delights of Carennac, the surrounding villages and the beautiful Dordogne Valley. |
